Every Child Outdoors Foundation

The Every Child Outdoors (ECO) Foundation is dedicated to ensuring equal access to outdoor education in our county. ECO is a partner of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education and every year, we assist over one thousand fifth graders in participating in a week of outdoor science school, a.k.a. “science camp” with their fifth grade classes in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Without financial assistance from ECO, these students would miss out on this life-changing educational opportunity. Upon returning home, students report being 75% more likely to be interested in science, talk to others about helping the environment, and explore nature where they live. Children should not miss out on a rich and diverse education because of financial barriers. Outdoor science school is one of the few opportunities students have at school to get out of their comfort zone and learn about our world beyond the classroom. Many have never been to the redwood forest or seen a banana slug. By donating to ECO and funding a student's trip to outdoor science school, you are contributing to educational equity, opening up a child’s world and fostering a love of our environment in our county’s next generation.
