Homeless Garden Project

The seeds of the Homeless Garden Project were sown in 1990 providing a structured and fulfilling opportunity for social interaction and professional development to Santa Cruz County’s homeless population from a safe garden refuge of beauty, healing, nourishment, and empowerment. 26 years later our innovative job training and transitional employment program continues to expand through a variety of practical and relevant initiatives. As Santa Cruz’s longest running CSA program our homeless trainees provide accessible organic produce to subscribing community members, while growing a deep awareness of what it means to be a part of the community through their donating scholarship shares to ten partnering nonprofits (over 2,500 low-income individuals.) By walking with/contributing to our Human Race endeavors you’re helping us provide a supportive environment, direct social work support, and practical professional and personal development opportunities for 15-20 homeless individuals. Graduating trainees currently average a 92% rate of employment and housing upon completion of the program and we are in the midst of a strategic expansion that will triple the number of homeless trainees that we can provide support for and more than double our farmable acreage! Join us in walking 5 miles closer to the end of Homelessness!
