Wings Homeless Advocacy

Wings Homeless Advocacy is a volunteer organization committed to living out our values of compassion, dignity and respect for all people by uniting our community to be volunteer advocates for those moving out of homelessness and onto a path of healing—working together to end chronic homelessness in Santa Cruz County. Working with professional case managers, Wings connects our caring advocates with a homeless participant to help them obtain resources needed to become housed and self-sufficient. This could be a ride to a medical or court appointment, help with moving into a new home, or helping someone fill out the confusing paperwork needed to get housing. Wings also provides newly housed individuals and families with a new bed and a laundry basket filled with new, basic household supplies to get them started enjoying their newfound sense of belonging. Wings has a well-organized structure designed to provide maximum support to our advocates, partners and participants. Master dispatchers coordinate task requests and assignments, eliminating stress and providing flexibility for advocates to work within their schedules. One volunteer’s encouragement can make all the difference in helping a chronically homeless person make a 180 degree change in their life.
